Buenos Aires graveyard

This is how the graveyard looks in Argentina. It’s hard to see, but instead of building he graveyard in the grass and burying the people, they put the coffins in the buildings (mausoleo).  There were some scary parts, like I saw into a glass door at a coffin and I fell forward and the door almost opened.  I also saw a half opened coffin. Each mausoleo is for one family, and each time a person pass away, they put them in there with their family.

Here are some pictures of me giving my brother a piggy back ride – going into a restaurant.  He was scared – he thought I would drop him but I didn’t.

Sightseeing downtown

Here’s a few pictures of Buenos Aires Argentina.  This is the White House in Argentina, except it is pink.  The reason it is pink is because they had two parties, a red party and a white party.  They decided to mix up the colors, and since they mixed white and red, it came out pink.  We just use white.  The obelisco is the really tall monument in the middle of the town, in the middle of a really large street. When they see the obelisco they know it is a picture of Buenos Aires, sort like the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.  You will also see a picture of me and my uncle, Matias.

empanadas and other food in argentina

Empanadas - This is what Empanadas look like

Milk - They have milk in bags just like this one. They use the box to hold the bag in place. They also have milk in cartons just like we do.

Shimy - There is caramel and vanilla (that is my favorite) and there is chocolate or plain vanilla. These sort of look like yoghurt but it really is way better and it is a kind of dessert.

Asado - There are 4 kinds of asado. there are regular sausages, and blood sausages there is meat  (pork and beef).

Rock Climbing and more fun

Climbing in Argentina - We went to a park next to the river - Rio de la Plata (river of the silver), and tried rock climbing....This is me rock climbing.  my whole family did it twice, but my brother only did it once. It is pretty fun; it can get really scary if your are really high up and you look down.  You just have to trust the person who is holding the safety rope.  It is called a belay. The belay rope is connected to a harness that goes around your waist and legs.  If you get tired, you take a rest, when you are not tired, you push yourself back to the rock then start climbing again.

Nick - This is my brother making a funny hairdo, he likes to make funny hairdos.  He like the attention he gets. The only attention my brother Nick likes - if laughter.

First days in Argentina

Hi, Liam here…

I am having fun in Argentina. This is what I did: I went to an airplane when I got aboard I had to wait for all the other passengers to get on. I had to fly to Washington DC then we were an hour early so we took a look around the airport and I ran into a store that sold Obama stickers, the person who owned the store gave me a free Obama pin. I was really happy I said thank you. Then  when I got on the airplane I watched a few movies on the screen in the seat in front of me; and then it was really late so I went to sleep because it is a two day flight. When I woke up, I got breakfast on the plane then when the plane landed I got in a taxi .

When I got to my cousins’ house I hugged my cousin Fatima then I jumped in the pool!!!

It is summer here but it is winter where you guys are, because we are below the equator. All the kids here are on summer vacation. So…I got to be with my cousins the whole day and my other cousins who live there are also on summer break because they also live in Argentina so I had a sleepover with them. I woke up before all of my cousins and before my brother Nick so I waited at the breakfast table for them. When my cousins and my brother woke up they watched a movie without me (because I thought they were sleeping). So when they came down my brother was screaming “My brother disappeared! My brother disappeared!” I said “It’s about time you guys woke up. I’ve been waiting for you and Nick I am right here I did not disappear”. We had breakfast and I jumped in the pool at my other cousins’’ house and then we had a picnic for lunch, we had empanadas (which is a kind of Argentinean dish) and we also had hotdogs (they call them ponchos in Argentina). And I also had French fries which are called papas fritas in Argentina. I like empanadas there are two kinds there are meat and there are ham and cheese inside a bread which is curled up and has little swirls at the top which holds it together.
